Ultra-light Studio is an extension of Christian Borger’s “Ultra-light” ™ series of furniture, lighting, and structural objects.
The Studio aims to investigate and explore the inherent beauty found within materials and methods of industrial manufacturing within the context of everyday tools and objects, bringing into question notions of functional beauty and domestic necessity.
Its process is rapid and unpredictable in its evolution.
It is non-linear and free flowing, often moving in cycles and waves.
The Studio highly values the rigorous creation and meticulous documentation of prototypes, as they each represent a decisive moment where the evolution of an idea momentarily halts and is put to the test as tangible object, providing critical real-world insight and direction to our process and future iterations. “Products” are not its goal, rather it aims to investigate how a design process can inform an ecosystem of objects that individually investigate a unifying idea.
The Studio’s process will push it to always continue evolving and investigating new ideas and it wants to share parts of that evolving narrative with its supporters, in their purest form.
The Studio’s work is designed and produced in the USA.

Ultra-light Studio’s first release subverts throwaway culture, embraces the movement of living, and celebrates the act of cooking and dining, regardless of space and place. It aims to equip one’s self with beautiful, portable, durable and functional tools that allow for cooking outside one’s kitchen, or dining without a table.
